Key Stakeholders’ Legislative And Music Industry Roundtables

Washington DC and New York,

November 18-20 2015:

Long-term Sustainable Development of Digital Music Services

Whilst copyright law in the US and in the EU vary in many aspects, both the US and EU governments have established certain exclusive rights for authors in order to promote the progress of science and the arts and therefore of society in general. In light of the digital future and challenges related to the digital environment, the US and EU governments are aiming at modernizing copyright and adapting it for the digital future.

The roundtable in Washington DC on November 18 will therefore start with a focus on legislative issues as well as discussions on how to ensure fair remuneration in the digital environment. It will bring together key US and European creator groups, music industry representatives, representatives of the UN and the US Congress as well as representatives from the United States Copyright Office In order to assess the upcoming review of copyright law in the US and in the EU.
